Basic Forklift Safety Rules

Here are a Couple of common safety rules to follow through forklift operation:
  1. Use the seat belt. It is going to keep you fastened in the seat at the time an event of a tip occurs.
  2. A parked forklift needs to have the forks flat on the floor using the controls set to neutral and with all the parking brake set.
  3. A forklift is regarded as"unattended" when the operator is over 25 feet off or when the forklift is from the direct vision of this operator.
  4. Forklifts must be parked with all the electricity switched off.
  5. When running the forklift on inclines, the load should always be on the side of this incline. Drive forward heading up the incline. Drive backward going down the incline.
  6. When traveling with no load on the forks, then keep the forks around four to eight inches away from the floor.
  7. Never allow anybody to walk underneath a raised load.
  8. Cease at all of the blind corners to search for other traffic in the area. Including pedestrians and forklifts. Honk your horn and appear before you proceed.
  9. If carrying out a tall load which blocks your forward vision, then drive in reverse and then turn your head so you can see where you're going.
  10. If operating around other forklifts maintain a three-forklift length distance between forklifts rather than try passing.
  11. Never drive a forklift up into the rear of a man who is unaware that the forklift is behind them.

FORKLIFT SAFETY IS FOR EVERYONE'S BENEFIT

Forklifts are exceptional labor-saving equipment. They save time and reduce the likelihood of injury associated with manual material handling actions. If managed by an operator, forklifts can get very dangerous. All operators must receive safety training before being allowed to run a forklift.

Forklift accidents are inclined to be somewhat serious, involving both personal injury and damage to your property. These accidents can be prevented when some common sense is used by operators and follow safe operating procedures. Do not operate a forklift till you have been properly trained and authorized to do so.
