Workplace Conditions Result in Forklift Accidents

Workplace ground conditions secure powered forklift truck performance. The current conditions in your workplace may result in forklift accidents.

Physical conditions at the workplace which may cause forklift accidents to incorporate slippery conditions, obstacles, and irregular surfaces, flooring and load limitations, overhead clearances, and ramps and ranges.

Slippery Conditions

Risks
The threat of slipping when traveling oil, dirt, water or other clogs
The threat of trick over when traveling on ice, snow, sand, gravel and irregular areas
Safe Practices

Prevent the surface when possible.
Distribute absorbent substance on slick areas which you can't avoid.
Cross the slick area slowly and carefully.
Report that the region to prevent others from falling.
Article a hint or warning cones before the place can be washed.
Drive slowly!
Keep contact with the floor by crossing irregular areas at an angle.
Clean up the grease or oil spill prior to proceeding (forcing over an oil or grease place will expand the toxic area).

Obstructions and Uneven Surfaces

Safe Practices

Keep all aisles clear.
Watch out for overhead obstacles.
Prevent the obstruction or eliminate the forklift and eliminate the obstruction.
Never push directly across speed bumps or railroad tracks. Cross gradually in a 45-degree angle.
Maintain steering by maintaining contact with the floor in any way times.
If a place is cluttered, then walk the road first to spot issues.

Watch posted floor loading limitations.
Inspect the condition of the flooring. Start looking for chipped or holes floors, loose items or obstacles, protruding nails or planks.
Inform a manager immediately if the floor is faulty.
Don't travel past a surface which can't support the burden of the lift truck, its own load, and its owner.
Don't input a boxcar or semi-van without scrutinizing its flooring and understanding its own load limitations.

Always look in the path of travel.
Never turn onto a ramp or incline. Switch before this ramp or incline to put forks in the appropriate direction.
Maintain a safe distance from the edge of a ramp.
Don't journey with slopes or other conditions that exceed the manufacturer's recommendation.
When traveling with a load, be sure that the load points up the incline, whatever the direction of travel.
When traveling with a load, be sure that the load points down the quality, whatever the direction of travel.
